A Creative Escape

I always have performed at my very best when I can be creative in all aspects of my work.  Being an entrepreneur is full of creativity, however, it can be very analytical at times, especially when business is the bottom line.  I am so excited to start this blog because there is so much I want to contribute from a story telling aspect, which up until now, could only be done through my music.  Sometimes, life is a little more complex and it can be difficult to jam pack that all into a 3 minute song.  So I am dedicated the next year to really challenging myself to become a multi faceted artist and that begins with story telling.

New Weekend Detox

August 8, 2015

I felt for many years, that the weekend was there for me to do chores, squeeze in as much exercise as possible, catch up on work and make sure I was ready for the next week ahead. It has taken several years to break these habits and learn that a well enjoyed and well rested weekend does so much more.  As a busy entrepreneur, a lot of people feel that it will take them several years to find a weekend to truly enjoy, with no anxiety of what is not getting accomplished.  And it is only natural to want to utilize as much free time as possible to make your life easier in the long run, right?  Well, I needed to be reminded several times that we only have one life to live, so even if you are swarmed, pick at least one thing that makes you happy and make it a POINT to do that during your weekend.

A map of a life well lived, the magical powers of Pinterest for inspiration…

One of my most favorite platforms on the internet is Pinterest.  As someone who is admittedly over analytical, it seems to me that image based searching and planning involved with pinning on  Pinterest relaxes my mind and inspires so many new ideas.  It also seems to truly transport me when I find images that really take my breath away.  All I have to do is log on and search for images that get me into the mood of relaxation and I am halfway there.

Let’s not forget MUSIC.  My very first love.  I now create weekend playlists and enjoy them to the fullest when I walk around my neighborhood.  I have so many different genres in this list, but my most favorite is downloading the soundtracks or scores of my favorite films to put me in a better mood.

Since my stress tends to accumulate throughout the week, I always know when the weekend comes my body will crave the foods that make it feel the most comfort.  I find the foods that I can eat to satisfy this need without sabotaging a healthy lifestyle, and this usually means a some organic dark chocolate (which has been proven to significantly reduce cortisol levels.)   I also brainstorm ways I can make my body feel awakened, alert and revitalized again.  This usually means a lot of cold, cucumber water, or San Pellegrino.  Since it has always been a challenge for me to remember to drink enough water, I try my best to make this as good tasting as possible.  Using lemons or limes also help, especially if you also can dash some lemon essential oil on yourself to really wake up.

Organic Basil

Last but not least, taking in NATURE as much as possible.  You may think this is hard for a New Yorker to do, but the truth is, a Walk through Battery Park, and picking up some fresh herbs from the local store, and surrounding myself  with plants that I can enjoy taking care of in my apartment, all seem to relax me, even if the scent of fresh basil is short lived.  Growing up in Maryland working on a horse farm, nothing will come close to how much nature I came into contact with each day, but making it a point to surround myself with just enough of it to remind me of the happiest memories of my childhood, is something I am willing to always take in one of the busiest cities of the world.

I have learned that it is not always about using the utmost discipline over the weekend to reset yourself for the next week.  Enjoying my life by using pleasant, sights, scents, tastes and sounds has honestly proven as the best way for me to detox and revitalize myself for the week to come.

ADVENTURE TIME : Costa Rica

I have been told before, that Costa Rica is the most pristine place on Earth.  I spent an entire month in Costa Rica to unwind from several years without a vacation and it was the best thing I have ever done for myself, EVER.

Can you imagine being this immersed in nature?  It was an immediate relief from the busy streets of NYC and the spinning workloads that never end.  I felt human again.  We spent many days watching the surfers practice in the waves of Playa Hermosa and watched in awe as some of the most talented surfers I have ever seen ride some pretty intense surf.

It was my very first time going white water rafting in Manuel Antonio and we did it in a very famous river in Costa Rica, the cleanest river in Central America.

A Crystal Palace in NY

Baccarat Hotel & Residences New York

How Can I Even Begin to Describe this Place?

In May I received a call almost right after getting off the plane from my trip to Costa Rica.  I was hoping to ease back into my life in New York City slowly but surely, but the universe had other plans for me.  The Baccarat Hotel was opening in NYC and they wanted to work with me to scout the best talent for this upscale wonder of a hotel.  I was a bit hesitant at first, as I knew this would be quite the task, and I was still trying to manage balancing my already hectic life, but something inside me knew that this was an opportunity not to be missed.  I scheduled a tour of the hotel for the very next day.

Upon entrance, it becomes perfectly clear that the Baccarat Hotel just might be the finest luxury hotel in all of New York City and perhaps the world.

It is with great pride that we can now call Baccarat a steady and loyal client.

NYC: Where I Call Home

I can honestly say that I have been in a “New York State of Mind” since I was 12.  I grew up in Maryland riding horses and spending most of my time at a farm.  It wasn’t until I truly understood the value of being in New York as someone who wanted to be in entertainment, that I began to really appreciate so much more about this incredible city.

First Thing in the Morning

I now can go for a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge.  How crazy is that?  This is one of my many favorite walks around town, but it is especially beautiful at night when you can look back at the NY skyline twinkling at dusk.

Downtown New York is changing rapidly.  The most recent development of the Freedom Tower has brought so many more tourists to the area.

How Bulletproof Butter Coffee is Saving My Health

February 28, 2015

Let me just start with the fact that I NEVER drank coffee growing up.  I thought it was the ugly stepchild of chocolate and vowed that I would never become the kind of person that HAD to drink it survive the day.  I started my official love affair when my boyfriend decided to introduce me to a new discovery in the health world, Bulletproof Coffee made with BUTTER.  At first, we laughed at him, as he is always finding bizarre health tricks on the internet, but to my surprise, this one had merit and a lot of amazing results; especially for women with PCOS, a disorder that I suffer greatly from.

The key ingredient to getting on a fast track to health, was my ability to resolve my insulin resistance. Without this milestone, my PCOS would remain an overwhelming obstacle.

Bulletproof Coffee

Every morning, I start my day with Bulletproof Butter coffee and my insulin levels are excellent throughout the day.  No more blood sugar crashes or impossible sugar cravings to ward off.  Now, my coffee break is more than just about taking a break, its an integral part of my health regimen.

I have been meaning to apologize to this girl for I have been meaning to apologize to this girl for quite sometime but I couldn’t find the words. I am heartbroken over the way I have treated you the past 15 years. It has been said that “ruin is a gift, ruin is the road to transformation” and after the past several years, nothing could be more true.

The biggest lesson I learned is that I must choose myself first. I am determined to get back to this girl and won’t stop until I get there. My journey will be a long and grueling one but I will know in the moment when it will all have been worth it, the moment when I will finally be free to live in not only my truth but THE truth of what happened to me and the insane amount of courage it is taking to fight like hell for it.
